Problem

Warner Bros. needed to build anticipation for the theatrical release of Sully, a film about the suspenseful “Miracle on the Hudson” and the heroic actions taken by Captain Sullenberger.

Solved

Courageous recreated US Airways 1549’s flight path over the Hudson River in an immersive 360° video that captivated viewers and allowed them to experience the daring feat. The video included the actual voice recorder audio footage from the cockpit, and ended with CNN’s 2009 breaking news coverage of the plane’s landing in the Hudson, lending urgency to the event and leaving users wanting to learn more from the movie. The videos were housed on a custom landing page and pushed out across CNN’s digital and social platforms.

Results

The video over-delivered the promised number of views by 19x!
